How to Plan a Spring Wedding

Planning a spring wedding is exciting because you get to take advantage of mild weather, blooming flowers, and vibrant colours, everything feels fresh and like new beginnings. Here’s my guide as to how to plan a spring wedding.

💐 1. Set Your Budget

  • Decide how much you’re willing to spend.

  • Break down the budget: venue, dress, catering, decor, photography, etc.

  • Plan for unexpected expenses (add 5-10% extra).

📅 2. Choose a Date and Venue

  • Best Months: March to May (depending on location).

  • Consider potential weather fluctuations and have a backup plan (especially for outdoor venues).

  • Venue Ideas: Botanical gardens, vineyards, barns, or outdoor pavilions.

  • If outdoors, ensure there’s shade or tenting for comfort.

🎨 3. Select a Colour Palette

  • Spring Colour Ideas:

    • Soft pastels (blush pink, lavender, mint, baby blue)

    • Vibrant florals (coral, fuchsia, yellow)

    • Earthy tones with greenery

  • Incorporate natural elements to enhance the springtime feel.

👰 4. Find the Perfect Dress or suite.

  • Opt for lightweight fabrics like chiffon, tulle, or organza.

  • Consider floral lace, flowy silhouettes, and ethereal designs.

  • Don’t forget a light shawl or cover-up in case of cooler evenings.

  • Keep suites in a lightweight material and maybe a lighter colour.

🌸 5. Spring-Inspired Decor

  • Embrace seasonal blooms: peonies, tulips, daffodils, hydrangeas.

  • Use greenery and fresh floral arrangements for centerpieces.

  • Add string lights, lanterns, or candles for evening ambiance.

📸 6. Book Your Vendors Early

  • Spring is a popular wedding season, so secure vendors ASAP:

    • Photographer/Videographer

    • Caterer

    • Florist

    • DJ/Band

🥗 7. Curate a Spring Menu

  • Incorporate fresh, seasonal ingredients.

  • Think of light appetizers, refreshing cocktails, and fruit-based desserts.

  • Signature drinks: lemonade, sangria, or floral-infused cocktails.

🎶 8. Plan for Weather Changes

  • Have a backup plan for rain or wind.

  • Provide blankets or heaters if it’s cool in the evening.

  • Consider a tent or indoor space just in case.

🕰️ 9. Create a Timeline

  • Include getting-ready time, the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception.

  • Plan around daylight if you want to capture stunning golden-hour photos.

🎁 10. Send Out Seasonal Invitations

  • Reflect the spring theme with floral designs or watercolor effects.

  • Send save-the-dates 6-8 months ahead and invitations 8-10 weeks prior.

Bonus Tips:

  • Provide parasols or fans for guests during the ceremony.

  • Consider allergy-friendly options for sensitive guests.

  • Add interactive elements like lawn games for outdoor fun.
